First a little about what we do and stand for. Disposables are filling our landfills, expensive, and rather inferior to the original safety razors in many ways. Most significantly, in our opinion, there's nothing better than a solid brass 100+ year razor, that shines like new when given the love it deserves. We scour the planet for such finds, bringing them back to their glory, and ready to become YOUR family heirloom. They truly don't make 'em like they used to, many are already gone forever, and there is a limited supply that haven't already been scooped up by collectors and wet shaving enthusiasts.
We've all experienced that auction piece that shows up not as expected, or even does not work at all. We believe we're making a difference by giving collectors and wet shavers a place to find these vintage items. A place that eliminates the "hope factor" when buying online.
Any razor you view on our site has been cleaned, inspected, polished and photographed to the best of our ability. It will be delivered to your door, packed in premium materials. The only hoping you'll do is hoping the postal service is speedier than usual!
How we got here:
When my grandfather passed away over forty years ago, one of the few things that I inherited were his safety razors. There were a handful, a toggle, Red Tip, Old Type and and an English Flare Tip Rocket. They were all Gillette razors, old, crusty with soap and his whiskers, needing love and attention. I was in my early teens at the time and didn't see any monetary value, my only thinking was I'd like to keep one to remember him by. Sadly, I only saved the shiniest specimen, the English Rocket.
Now, pushing 50, I deeply regret not saving them all. Just one remains in my bathroom today. As to how that transitioned into Spence & Bo, one night, about 10 years ago I hopped around the web trying to figure out what Grandpop's razor was. Down the rabbit hole I went, and wound up looking for a Fatboy on an auction site before I went to bed! Bit by razor acquisition disorder, I began collecting razors at that time, hunting all the typical online sites and local antique stores. I've traded, bought, and sold hundreds of razors over the years and I love to do so. I can't leave them when I find them, it's simply something I've become passionate about.
Most importantly I have a loving supportive spouse who encourages me in this venture! I'm proud to be a part of a tremendous community of wet shavers and have made many great friends over the years. I hope you find something you're looking for, be it hardware, software, or simply information. If you're looking for information or help identifying an heirloom or something you found at a yard sale, we're here to help with a free consultation...just send us an email or pick up the phone.
There's much to see here, I'll be adding an updating as consistently as I can, your patience is appreciated. So, take your time, look around, and check back in with us from time to time. Your presence is appreciated.
Thanks for visiting!
- Mike
